We have company!

Announced out of the January Prescott conference, from Canada, into Croatia !
The Usanov family.

Day one

Top photo - Meeting for the 1st time at the Zagreb airport.
We then drove to their temporary home in *Istria, about 3 hours from us, AND right on the coast!
Right now they are staying in the quaint town of *Rovinj, in an off season apartment.
(think *Provincetown this time of year.)
The middle photos are the pulley system for getting all the luggage up to the third floor.
Bottom L - their view of the Adriatic sea from the "attic" room
Bottom R - Tom's new foot stool?

Last week

We had the Usanov's stay with us for a few days. They are exploring all their options (cities) as to where to plant themselves to pioneer.  Of course if anyone asks me ... definitely Zagreb, big enough for us both! (Zagreb is the largest city in Croatia and the only one whose metropolitan area exceeds one million people.)
But really I just glad they are in the same country,
so I'll let them pray about it ...
Spending time together in Zagreb and Samobor... We seem to enjoy the same things.
 Friends, puzzles and computer games.
Not pictured - the adults at the table with food & coffee.
Also not pictured were the many sweets & desserts we ate in three days time!
I wanted to post this because really we are excited to have an other fellowship missionary family in the same country. God moving on us both about the same time and opening doors for both in different ways ... What a hope, what a vision!
Asking you all to think big and pray for all God wants to do through us here!

Cape Cod & Istria

I think *Istria is kinda similar to the Cape as they are both a peninsula surrounded by saltwater with tourism being the main attraction.
Tom and I visited Rovinj on a beautiful day in September, a super artsy fishing village with lots of tourist in season ...  Rovinj reminds me more of P-town, from when I was a kid, (umm that would be in the 60's/70's)

*Rovinj of course has a much longer history and a bigger land mass with a year round a population of 14,294 (as of 2011) a density of 160/km2 (420/sq mi) and an estimated 60,000 summer visitors…
P-town's year round population is 2,942  (U.S. census of 2010), making the population density of 117.5/km2 (304.2 inhabitants per square mile)  and swells to 6x that in summer… (stats are hard to nile down!)

Rovinj - Istria, Croatia, (HR)
Wikipedia info:
Rovinj, situated on the north Adriatic Sea, located on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula, is a popular tourist resort and an active fishing port. The main economic activity in Rovinj is tourism and during peak season (May–September), its bars, restaurants and art galleries work long hours, while operating limited hours off-season. The town's main central thoroughfare is the fully pedestrian Carrera Street, with many independent shops and art galleries. A farmer's market is located at the edge of the historic part of town, near Valdibora Square. The centre of Rovinj, which includes the old town, is very walkable and transportation by bike or scooter is a preferred means of getting around for many locals.
Provincetown is located at the very tip of Cape Cod, surrounded by water in every direction except due east,  Provincetown grew rapidly as a fishing and whaling center. By the 1890s, Provincetown was booming, and began to develop a resident population of writers and artists, as well as a summer tourist industry. In the mid-1960s, Provincetown saw population growth, and Commercial Street, the town's equivalent to "Main Street", gained numerous cafés, art galleries, various hip small businesses, restaurants, and bars serving the tourist trade.
