This is our 6th Christmas living in Zagreb!
And each year we have enjoyed the center at Christmas time.
And each year it has grown bigger and better...
You can get everywhere on foot, one of the many things I love about Zagreb.
We wander down and around as often as we can,
and still don't get to see, do or eat everything!

From the upper city, lower,
Ban Jelacic Square and spilling out all around,
wherever you walked
(Tomićeva, Kurelčeva, Bogoviceva & Gajeva streets, and Cvjetni, EU, Tomislav, Squares, to Zrinjevac park and more),
night or day.
The whole area becomes so festive with beautiful trees,
Christmas decorations, and colorful lights.
There something for everyone to buy, see, listen too and enjoy!
There is plenty of free entertainment on many of the squares.
Oh and the wonderful smells; roasting chestnuts, meats, apples, hot chocolate,
and my personal favorite ~ fritule ~ (in-between a donut-hole and fried dough) yummy!

Surrounding streets - coffee bars had seasonal décor (blankets & heaters too!:) many with their own performers;
European Square with its 1000 heart canopy and bubble stage.

| Zrinjevac Park - (Advent na Zrinjevcu). My personal favorite! I love these huge trees, made extra special with white lights. We shopped at the cute white wooden craft booths and enjoyed a few very good performers at the old music pavilion. |

Coolest skating rink ever! And this year they added a viewing deck above the skate rental shop.

A traditional Christmas market is a street market associated with the celebration of Christmas during the four weeks of Advent. The history goes back to the Late Middle Ages in the German-speaking part of Europe and in many parts of the former Holy Roman Empire.
