A 2-week visit! |
The beginning of December is a great time to visit.
There is so much to see and do!
I was so blessed to have Pauline ~ AKA my baby sister, Poli ~
and mom ~ AKA Gumma, VRKA Judy ~
fly over.
Around home:
Many a day we took to the streets of Zagreb.
They were just in time for Advent in Zagreb
Voted the best ~ Christmas Market ~ in Europe in 2016 & 2017
Trendy Shopping, Lights & Displays, Crafts, Food... |
Malls, Sava River, Tourist Attractions... |
I did mention good food? |
I was super excited to show them... everything!
ROAD TRIP:
Because you can't fly all this way and not see the Adriatic!
Poli and I drove to Rijeka, staying overnight with friends.
Opatija in winter |
Along the Opatija Riviera, too cold to stick our feet in, but we did see fish swimming around (the water is so clear, you can see all the way to the bottom).
And as we strolled along the boardwalk
we just happened upon a chocolate fair
and ran into OLAF !!
ROAD TRIP:
Because you need more than one stamp in your passport!
~ from Croatia through Slovenia to Austria ~
Final Destination: Graz, Austria (2.5 hrs - 190km)
You can see the whole city from the clock tower |
Christmas décor and shopping |
We spent a couple days walking around the old city, taking in the Christmas markets, sights, food and shopping.
So glad we had the time... |

We did many regular ordinary things too.
We couldn't fit in quite as
much as we wanted to
and I think we walked more steps
than they thought possible.
I recall more than once the need to
slow down and re-evaluate our plans.
Never enough time, but so glad they came!

We never did get to say goodbye...
But that is a whole other story...
As is the bug! yuck.
